Japanese drummer and composer Shun Ishiwaka brings together jazz, indie pop, and inventive songwriting on Asa / Christmas Song, a limited-edition 7-inch single released in Japan in 2017.

The A-side, "Asa," features vocalist Manami Kakudo, while the flip side, "Christmas Song," brings together Ryo Konishi and Tomomi Oda of Japanese band CRCK/LCKS. Rather than a conventional holiday standard, "Christmas Song" offers something refreshingly different for listeners interested in the more adventurous side of seasonal music.

Pressed in Japan as a limited-edition 7-inch vinyl single, this is a fascinating little discovery for collectors of Japanese jazz, indie pop, and unusual Christmas recordings.
