Few Christmas albums have had the lasting influence of A Christmas Gift for You. Originally released on Philles Records in November 1963, this landmark collection brought together some of the greatest voices of the girl-group era, including Darlene Love, The Ronettes, The Crystals, and Bob B. Soxx & The Blue Jeans, for 13 unforgettable holiday recordings.

Produced using the legendary Wall of Sound technique, the album transforms familiar Christmas favorites into spectacular pop productions, filled with layered instrumentation, ringing bells, soaring strings, and powerful vocals. The Ronettes deliver irresistible versions of "Sleigh Ride" and "Frosty the Snowman," The Crystals bring their signature energy to "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," and Darlene Love steals the show with "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)," a song that has become a holiday standard in its own right. The album closes with a moving ensemble performance of "Silent Night."

Initially struggling to find an audience, the album eventually caught hold and has become one of the most celebrated Christmas records ever made, influencing generations of both musicians and producers. Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys famously counted it among his favorite albums, and its distinctive sound helped define what a great pop Christmas record could be.

This special 60th Anniversary Picture Disc, released by Sony Legacy in 2023, features all 13 original tracks in their historic mono mixes, with the original cover artwork directly on the disc. It's a particularly eye-catching edition of an essential Christmas album and a wonderful addition to any holiday vinyl collection.
