Released in 2005, Christmas Songs was Krall's first full-length Christmas album and her first-ever studio recording with a big band. Krall teamed up with the Clayton-Hamilton Jazz Orchestra under John Clayton, with string arrangements from Johnny Mandel and production from Tommy LiPuma (and Krall herself). The result is an album that runs the gamut from full, lush, swing-era arrangements to stripped-back quartets all anchored by Krall's unmistakable voice.

"The Christmas Song" and "Let It Snow" are two standouts, but my favorite track is the swinging rendition of "Sleigh Ride" at the end of the album.

This Japanese Import edition is a Super High Material CD, manufactured using a specialized polycarbonate material designed for improved optical readability while remaining compatible with standard CD players. It's a wonderful edition of an essential modern jazz Christmas album.
